Happy aka Rowan

Meet Happy

She has a wide collar and a blaze face with a white stripe that connects her collar to her blaze. Her front feet are white and her back feet are white with high black and tan markings.

Happy is a very energetic young lady. She is very brave. Stands and observes new situations. Is usually in the middle of everything that is happening. Was extremely comfortable the first time in the house.. Settling right down in laps for petting and cuddling.

Happy now lives with the Foley family on Shaw Island, Wa which includes 5 children. Her job description also includes "putting up" with a larger--gentle--dog, two cats, 60 chickens, and a growing flock of sheep, and a few head of cattle and be good in dog-4H.

Also flushing out mink and giving chase to raccoons, fox and other things that may harm chickens.

What a lucky English Shepherd! A full life of challenging jobs.

First comments from the Foley's

"Thanks for everything. Happy is beautiful"

Email received from the Foleys about Happy:

"Rowan, formerly known as “Happy” has settled in nicely and is getting used to the routine around here. One of the cats has even adopted her has an honorary kitten, but neither can quite figure out how to play together—dog’s can’t climb fence posts to chase. His twin brother isn’t so sure about Rowan, and I’m not too sure Rowan has figure out that there are two identical cats, and not just one Schitzo kitty.

Update on Rowan from the Foley's 2007

Here are some updated photos of our girl: http://www.flickr.com/photos/86571141@N00/sets/72157594270512104/

She’s a real trooper and works hard. She’s always on duty and put some chickens away for me the other day without being asked and waited by the hole in the fence until I got there. Amazing to see a dog be so gentle with chickens. . . .

Take care. All the best,

Neal, Kathy, Rowan and the kids.
